It was there when I got here, and it made me sad until I bought a rug to cover it up. But the room check people are coming this week and I don't want them to steal it, so I've had to take it up. My room is sad without the cushions and rug, and blanket. It is my experience from room check people, however, that they are mean, horrible bureaucrats who don't care if you're asleep, or if you're not feeling well, they simply tell you to get up and get dressed... sorry did I say tell - I meant 'bark'... and then proceed to insult your cleanliness. I'm no Martha Stewart here, but COME ON! My room is always spic and span, and I like to make it my own. I will not, however clean that rancid shower plug hole. Now; where did Jake go?
Anyway, yes, Francesca is coming to stay, woohoo! By, then my room should be back to normal, and the horrid stain will be covered up again! Perhaps, however, I should not have told the Queen of Clean - a woman, who perhaps, may be Martha Stewart in disguise!
Now anyone who is clever enough to have checked Francesca's blog also, will notice this blog is just like the comment I left for her. However, I thought it was quite an amusing blog, and so I couldn't let the Francesca one keep it all for herself! So, here's to living in halls!
See you soon!

It's taken so long for me to finally update this thing! So while I cook my turkey drummers I will say what I have been up to!
Well, I am President of a society this year - it's called Absolute Harmony, and it's an a cappella choir (without instruments) - and it's been hard work to get it all going! So here's an update about what we've been up to!
We signed up 90 new people at Fresher's Fair...
65 paid members so far...
Our Christmas concert is on the way - 14th of December (everyone come if you can make it)...
We're going to a gig/concert run by a professional a cappella choir...
That's all the interesting stuff that I can think of. Unfortunately that's all that's really been happening this year so far! So maybe in another 4 weeks I'll have something to tell everyone!

We also went to Lush - it's amazing how the British soap company has made it to the Czech Republic - and it turns out I knew the products better than they did! We ate ice-cream as it rained and looked out at the boats... dreamily, as we were to be on one that evening - on a romantic evening cruise!
The reality - was much, much worse!
We ended up packed like sardines onto a tiny boat with strangers and a buffet which people literally fought over! We also spent most of the cruise in locks! Very annoying!
The last day, though was really cool and we ended up drinking yet more beer in the Old Town Square, before catching our flight back home! And so concludes the amazing trip to Prague!

So the next couple of days we mostly did some sightseeing... I got really claustrophobic at the very top of St. Vitus' Catherdral and had to breathe deeply... but mostly our day in Prague castle was really cool - and expensive! The evening we spent in the 'Little Quarter' eating yummy steaks at a fabulous restaurant called 'Mount Steak'. If you ever go to Prague - you must visit this restaurant! It does over 60 different types of steak! I couldn't believe it! So tasty! Jake ate an Osterich steak and I ate an Antelope steak! I became a mini-lion! (Reference to Clement!)
On our third day we went to St. Wenceslas square and saw lots of dead, stuffed animals in the National Museum. There are a lot more species in the world (and in the Czech Republic) than I ever thought! We ate in a fairly nice street restaurant and then browsed around C&A (yes, they do really still have that in Europe!) And I nearly bought a pretty coat... (sighs dreamily) or at least I would have had I owned a Credit Card!
In the evening we went to the Opera! OMG I am old! It was a little too pretentious for me I have to say, although I did enjoy dressing up and drinking glasses of champagne at 50czk (like £1.20!!!) What was coolest about this Opera trip, however, was the exciting thing we did after. We arranged to be taken to an amazingly posh restaurant called V Zatisi and ate the poshest (and probably the most fattening) meal I have ever eaten. I was sitting with glazed eyes as I ate my meal - it was soooooo tasty!
I love Prague!

I began eating what looked like museli only to find out that it was the most horrible thing I'd ever eaten! I finally opted for Poached Eggs - which I ended up eating all week!
After that we departed to the Old Town Square, which is beautiful and very VERY touristy - and set about finding the amazing and very impressive Clock which resides on the Old Town Hall. Which had a massive sign up on it saying 'Closed for renovation 1.9.05 - 01.11.05'. Just my luck. We were 12 days too late! Anyone who's ever been to Prague or heard about it will know that this clock is one of the main features or tourist events of the city!
So, will little left to see in the Old Town, we headed off in search of the Old Jewish Quarter. Instead we ended up at Charles Bridge - I have great Map reading skills! This was the first of many times we got lost in Prague - but in my defence I will add that there are tons of tiny little streets to get lost in - it's like a city full of Brighton laines! Eventually - after Jake made me have my picture taken on Charles Bridge, we found the Jewish Quarter. And found the oldest Synagogue in Europe. It cost 400 czk for us to both get in - and although this thing was built in 1234 or whatever - it really wasn't worth it. First, it was the smallest attraction I've ever paid to go to - and most attractions in Prague only cost about 50 czk to go in - that's just over a pound. Secondly, they yelled at Jake for not putting on his yamacka - the little Jewish hat - which made me sad.
After that we were feeling a little stung so we decided not to go into the old Jewish cemetary and instead starting walking down the very fashionable area of Prague. Very large pictures of Uma Thurman look down at you from Louis Vuitton - there's none of Kate Moss though...
Startlingly we ended up back in the Old Town sqaure and realised that we could have just walked much quicker and more directly to the Jewish Quarter without getting lost, but hey - where's the adventure there? This was the cool part - we sat down for a beer in the nice area next to the Old Town Hall - the only thing that wasn't nice was the price - it was nearly double the price to what we paid the night before!
That evening we went to the Ice Hockey! It is an absolutely wicked sport - and I wanna go again! We watched Sparta Praha (Of which there is a football team too) vs. K Vary (which is just north of Prague). It was so much fun - and we met these Americans who were visiting Prague as part of their college life - for four months - so they knew how to pay and stuff. They made it even more fun than it already was too. Sparta won 6-4 woohoo! Even though for a lot of the game it looked like they would lose! A guy called Roman who looked a lot like Ian scored a lot of goals, and then proceeded in the final third to have a massive fight with a K Vary man. It was brilliant! Armour flying off everywhere!
So that was my second day in Prague!

Nothing new there then! So... I feel I should relay tales of the wonderful <del>Czechoslovakia</del> Czech Republic! We arrived from a wonderful British Airways flight at approximately 6pm Prague time and were picked up by a young dude who drove sooooooo fast into the centre of Prague - which by the way looks incredibly Eastern European and slightly run down in a 'we only got rid of Communism 15 years ago' type-way! We pulled up outside The Atlantic Hotel in 'Na Porci' I'm not quite sure what that means... but we found out later that it was only a little way from Namesti Republicky - Republic Square which was a really central point in the city - wicked! Anyway, off we went with the luggage and the young driver had to come and get us twice as we firstly tried to got to the wrong hotel, and secondly as we went down a service tunnel at the side of the hotel! That sorted we checked into our hotel! The room was the most amazing thing - it was absolutely massive, and the en suite was just that - sweet!

Finally we got around to eating and decided to go down to a restaurant just down from the hotel and managed to eat for under £10! Jake had a really big German sausage pizza and I had - well anyone who has ever eaten out with me at a restaurant will know what I ate - Spaghetti Carbonara. We both then drank a half litre of Budweiser (the original - not the American version - you might know it as Budvar) which was so tasty - beer in England just doesn't compare! So that was my first day in the Czech Republic - hopefully I'll be back soon to tell you more!
